** FROM PRO TO SLOW

For Gosse=2C it=E2=80=99s always been about the numbers. With two years in=
 the top 30 of the Cyclocross World Ranking and racing for the Dutch natio=
nal team at the CX Worlds few times=2C he can look back on a pretty succes=
sful career as a professional cyclocross rider.

But now=2C ... what comes next?

We first met Gosse back in 2016 at the Singlespeed Cyclocoss European Cham=
pionships in Berlin - which we hosted and he won. We were instantly stoked=
 by his personality.
He wasn=E2=80=99t top 30 in the world back then yet=2C but the moment he t=
old us he=E2=80=99d left his pro team simply because they wanted to dictat=
e what he could and couldn=E2=80=99t race (=E2=80=A6and definitely no SSCX=
EC)=2C we immediately got his vibe.

Like us=2C Gosse has always chased the joy of cycling rather than being st=
uck in the rusty cage of a rigid system. Together=2C we took on the challe=
nge of showing up at global UCI races without the backing of a full team.=
 Weekend after weekend=2C Gosse would load up his Kangoo=2C race against a=
ll the big names=2C and astonish the pro teams with their giant buses.

While racing=2C Gosse never lost the joy of cycling and still raced top 50=
 at the weekly World Cups. He=E2=80=99s always been an ambassador of good=
 vibes among the dogged racers who ride with knives between their teeth=2C=
 both on and off the track.

Even though we might be +/- 20 years older than him=2C Gosse quickly becam=
e a deep friend=2C just like all our team rider=2C but he=E2=80=99s specia=
l. Even as a pro=2C he fit right in among our other riders=2C those nomadi=
c souls who live on their bikes and have completely different stories to t=
ell.

Of course=2C with age it gets harder to keep up the daily discipline neede=
d to compete at the front=2C especially while juggling an academic degree=
 alongside racing. But that=E2=80=99s not Gosse=2C he=E2=80=99d never let=
 anything stop him from fully enjoying cycling=2C even if he can=E2=80=99t=
 keep pace with the young guns. A post-career question that every pro cycl=
ist faces at some point=2C when transitions start to loom=E2=80=A6
Gravel racing? Not his thing=2C not necessarily our personal top choice ei=
ther. So we decided to take Gosse out on a bikepacking trip - heavy bikes=
=2C sleeping under the stars=2C bathing in a river - the whole adventure.

Just because we thought it might be right up his alley=2C and we were righ=
t: when we approached him it didn=E2=80=99t take a second he was thrilled=
 instantly. Gosse=E2=80=99s Dutch camping knack definitely made our trip e=
ven more remarkable than we had expected. And yes=2C the breathtaking scen=
ery of the Veneto Trail (https://venetotrail.eu/?mc_cid=3D8d91dfe820&mc_ei=

            Like us=2C Gosse has always chased the joy of cycling rather t=
han being stuck in the rusty cage of a rigid system. Together=2C we took o=
n the challenge of showing up at global UCI races without the backing of a=
 full team. Weekend after weekend=2C Gosse would load up his Kangoo=2C rac=
e against all the big names=2C and astonish the pro teams with their giant=
 buses.<br>

While racing=2C Gosse never lost the joy of cycling and still raced top 50=
 at the weekly World Cups. He=E2=80=99s always been an ambassador of good=
 vibes among the dogged racers who ride with knives between their teeth=2C=
 both on and off the track.

Even though we might be +/- 20 years older tha=
n him=2C Gosse quickly became a deep friend=2C just like all our team ride=
r=2C but he=E2=80=99s special. Even as a pro=2C he fit right in among our=
 other riders=2C those nomadic souls who live on their bikes and have comp=
letely different stories to tell.<br>

Of course=2C with age it gets harder to keep up the daily discipline neede=
d to compete at the front=2C especially while juggling an academic degree=
 alongside racing. But that=E2=80=99s not Gosse=2C he=E2=80=99d never let=
 anything stop him from fully enjoying cycling=2C even if he can=E2=80=99t=
 keep pace with the young guns. A post-career question that every pro cycl=
ist faces at some point=2C when transitions start to loom=E2=80=A6

Gravel racing? Not his thing=2C not necessaril=
y our personal top choice either. So we decided to take Gosse out on a bik=
epacking trip - heavy bikes=2C sleeping under the stars=2C bathing in a ri=
ver - the whole adventure.<br>

Just because we thought it might be right up his alley=2C and we were righ=
t: when we approached him it didn=E2=80=99t take a second he was thrilled=
 instantly. Gosse=E2=80=99s Dutch camping knack definitely made our trip e=
