Look at Sean, just look at him. Doesn’t his face encompass the holiday cheer we secretly wish we all had (hint, hint Kyle). This time of year people get stressed out about gifts, family, weight, travel, ect. What was that book? Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff (it’s all small stuff)? I think that should apply to this time of year for everyone. My plans for Christmas was to hide out inside of Wall Fort, my secret room in my room, and not come out, but looking at this picture of Sean gives me hope not only for the holidays, but for the future of all mankind. I am going to go forth with good intentions and love for my fellow man all because of Sean’s love for the holidays. Thank you Sean, you saved my life.</p>

This Feb. 4th we are teaming up with Portland’s 1st indoor MTB, <a href="http://www.lumberyardmtb.com/" onclick="javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackEvent','outbound-article','http://www.lumberyardmtb.com']);">The Lumberyard</a>, to throw an indoor super cyclocross event. Just show up and ride. We will provide the bikes, beer, tunes, and hi fives. </p>

<p>I know you’ve all been waiting with bated breath for me to put this video together… Well, wait no longer…</p>
<p>All I’ll say about this video is that I hate making videos. The amount of work required to make even a poor quality video like this is overwhelming. And if you really want to do it right, it’d take way more work in the field filming it properly than I’m willing to put in. So I’m officially hanging up my director’s hat and going back to still photography.</p>

<p>Here at the shop we have been hearing about a lot of bike theft recently. People blame it on the holiday season, but I thought it was the giving season not the taking season. We ourselves have fallen victim to theft when our shop was broken into and maybe that’s why I enjoyed the thieve getting beat up so much in this video. It’s not graphic and they only drop a couple of F bombs…. so if you are uncomfortable with suggestion of violence or if you have never been outside your house and heard someone cuss, you probably shouldn’t watch this. Everyone else who like the idea of street justice, give it a looksee.</p>

<p>Its impossible, because if it was truly a tiny little sun it would suck you and everything around you, and I mean everything around you, into it adding just a minutia of fuel to the awe inspiring physics furnace of its existence. Fortunately for you, me, and everyone we know Portland Design Works decided to reign in their expansive and equally awe inspiring imaginations while developing transportable commuter light systems. Who needs a mini sun, NO ONE. Who needs a easily transportable bright and durable light system. Everyone, and by everyone I mean everyone who reads this blog, because unless you are a spambot trying to sell me reusable straws, I am guessing you ride a bike and live in a place where it gets dark at some point during the year. Ergo the need for lights. </p>
<p>“But Kyle, there are so many light companies to choose from what makes PDW special?”</p>
<p>I am glad you asked anonymous, before I answer I wish to thank you for taking part in this dialectic. Thank you. Yes there there many lights to choose from and here at 21st Avenue bicycles we stock a variety, but when pressed we unanimously choose to sell PDW, why? Lets go from the stance that PDW isn’t the only company making a great commuter light, that yes they have developed some unique features but in the end a light is a light. So here it goes, 1. They are friends of ours, they live in town we see these fine folks frequently, so for those of you who live in Portland the choice to show your local support is made simple. 2. What if you don’t care about local? Or if you live in another part of our fine nation or in one of the many other incredible lands beyond our stately boundaries. I believe that in order to distinguish one company from another you need to be able to find a common ground, something in the companies character point of view that I can relate to. I relate to good times, friends, night times, proto-psychedlic, home made light stands, and laughs. So check this video, POW = PDW. </p>

<p>I am really excited….. this morning the boys and I went to go tour <a href="http://www.lumberyardmtb.com/" onclick="javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackEvent','outbound-article','http://www.lumberyardmtb.com']);">The Lumberyard</a>‘s, Portland’s first indoor MTB park, new space. I got together with them a few months ago to plan an indoor supercross event that we would throw there before they opened the doors to the public. There was lull for a few months because they were still deciding on a space. It’s official, they have a space and today we got to check it out. 50,000sq ft of awesome.</p>

This sucks….. holy crap does this suck and to top it off I don’t know where my rain pants are. It rains so hard then lets up for a couple minutes and then starts raining even harder than before. I bet you are thinking to yourself, “self, this is the perfect day to ride my bike to the bike shop and get all that stuff I have been putting off.” Well, you should because we are lonely with out you. It’s not all that bad. We use days like this to get the shop looking sweet and “buttoned up”. That’s why the New York Times calls us “The coolest bike shop in Portland”.</p>
